Steves tale of what attracted him to Dart sailing -
22 years old at the London Boat show with the intention of buying a speedboat and taking up water ski-ing, I was attracted to the Laser stand by 2 blonde ladies,and accepted their invitation to a Dart 15 demo sail at Banbury. Soon after that first adrenaline filled sail I became the proud owner of my first Dart 15 '1266'.
I started racing in 1992, my first experience of racing with the Dart 15 Association was at Grafam Water where I 'T-boned' my boat through the side of a 3 month old boat belonging to the Chairman of the Association, Nick Dewhurst, perhaps not the best way to get known ! I was 5th from last in my first National event.
In 1993 I brought 'Tiger Shark - 1733' my current boat, and have since acheived twice 1st place 'Inland Champion', 3rd place 'Sprint National Champion' and recently 2nd place 'National Champion Unirig'. I have also acheived 1st place in the 'Winter Traveller' series 2006 and 2007.
As well racing my Dart 15 I have experience in racing the Dart 18 both single handed and with crew at National and Club level.
